Touch WorldTalk X.400 Gateways
Overview Touch Communications is currently porting
their WorldTalk gateways to the HP 9000
Series 800. These gateways will allow the
9000 to act as an X.400 gateway for MicroSoft
Mail for the MacIntosh and cc:Mail for DOS.
We are currently discussing adding additonal
gateways to the HP 9000 to support other PC
LAN email packages including MHS, QuickMail
and Lotus Notes.
If you have customers that have requirements
other than the above mentioned PC email
packages, please contact either Anne Marie
Jeraci in the U.S. or Todd Goldman in Europe.
Touch is fairly flexible about adding future
gateways. However, we want these additions
to be driven by customer demand so please
give us your feedback.
Also, if you have customer who would like to
see this functionality on the Series 700,
please let us know.
Sales If you have sales opportunities which can use
Opportunities the Touch functionality and you require some
assistance from Touch, you can contact them
at 408-374-2500.

Pricing: The Touch WorlTalk Gateway for the HP 9000
has the following price structure regardless
of which HP 9000 they run on.
WordTalk Gateway Engine: $5,000
First 100 Users: $6,900
Additional 100 Users: $1,900
Note that if a customer purchases two
gateways from Touch and has 1000 users, the
customer will pay for two gateway engines
($10,000), but will pay the $6,900 only once
for the first 100 users and will pay 9*$1900=
$17,000 for the remaining 900 users
regardless of their location.
IMPORTANT: Touch is very new to the HP 9000
and to selling their solution on a scalable
realizes that this pricing strategy is very
expensive for some customer situations. They
are very willing to give discounts on their
pricing to help win the deal.
We expect their prices to come down over time
as they gain a better understanding of the HP
9000 customer base.
Software The Touch Gateways for the DOS environment
Requirements require the use of LAN Manager for the HP
9000. Touch is in the process of testing NFS
and portable Netware.
The Touch gateways for the MAC do not require
any additional software and use a Touch
product between the email server and the HP
9000.
