  1. This package contains some information about the Touch communications
  2. PC LAN email gateways.  Also attached is a file called TOUCH.EXE.  This
  3. contains some .GAL files on Touch.  Please download this file to you PC
  4. and call it "Touch.exe".  At the dos prompt, type "Touch".  The
  5. "TOUCH.EXE" file wil expand into 9 .GAL files.

  11.                Touch WorldTalk X.400 Gateways
  12.  
  13. Overview       Touch Communications is currently porting
  14.                their WorldTalk gateways to the HP 9000
  15.                Series 800.  These gateways will allow the
  16.                9000 to act as an X.400 gateway for MicroSoft
  17.                Mail for the MacIntosh and cc:Mail for DOS.
  18.                We are currently discussing adding additonal
  19.                gateways to the HP 9000 to support other PC
  20.                LAN email packages including MHS, QuickMail
  21.                and Lotus Notes.

  23.                If you have customers that have requirements
  24.                other than the above mentioned PC email
  25.                packages, please contact either Anne Marie
  26.                Jeraci in the U.S. or Todd Goldman in Europe.
  27.                Touch is fairly flexible about adding future
  28.                gateways.  However, we want these additions
  29.                to be driven by customer demand so please
  30.                give us your feedback.

  63. Pricing:       The Touch WorlTalk Gateway for the HP 9000
  64.                has the following price structure regardless
  65.                of which HP 9000 they run on.

  67.                WordTalk Gateway Engine: $5,000
  68.                First 100 Users:              $6,900
  69.                Additional 100 Users:         $1,900
  70.  
  71.                Note that if a customer purchases two
  72.                gateways from Touch and has 1000 users, the
  73.                customer will pay for two gateway engines
  74.                ($10,000), but will pay the $6,900 only once
  75.                for the first 100 users and will pay 9*$1900=
  76.                $17,000 for the remaining 900 users
  77.                regardless of their location.

  79.                IMPORTANT: Touch is very new to the HP 9000
  80.                and to selling their solution on a scalable
  81.                realizes that this pricing strategy is very
  82.                expensive for some customer situations.  They
  83.                are very willing to give discounts on their
  84.                pricing to help win the deal.

  86.                We expect their prices to come down over time
  87.                as they gain a better understanding of the HP
  88.                9000 customer base.

  90. Software       The Touch Gateways for the DOS environment
  91. Requirements   require the use of LAN Manager for the HP
  92.                9000.  Touch is in the process of testing NFS
  93.                and portable Netware.
  94.  
  95.                The Touch gateways for the MAC do not require
  96.                any additional software and use a Touch
  97.                product between the email server and the HP
  98.                9000.
